Event Permits in Dubai: What an Inflatable Supplier Has to Provide

Public events in Dubai need an event permit from the Department of Economy and Tourism, and the venue, mall management or free zone authority can add its own approvals. Ask the organiser what they need from the supplier before production.

That means there is rarely a single approval. A mall activation usually needs the mall's own fit-out approval alongside the city permit; a free zone venue adds the zone authority; an exhibition inside a hall follows the organiser's exhibitor manual, which has its own deadlines, often weeks before move-in.

Because the list varies by venue, the useful question at the briefing stage is not "what permits do we need" but "who are we submitting to, and what do they want from the supplier". The organiser or venue can answer that in one email.

The electrical details of the air system. The 650 W electric pump moves 1,600–2,000 L/min at 2.0 psi; the 1600 W electric pump moves 4,800–5,200 L/min at 4.5 psi. Both run on 110–240 V, 50–60 Hz, and the venue will want to know where the unit sits and how its cable is routed and covered.

How the piece is held down: ground fixing, ballast or a frame, with the anchor points shown on the drawing. For an indoor atrium or a suspended piece, the attachment points have to be designed into the seams, which is a production decision, not a site decision.

Venues sometimes ask for fire performance documentation on the fabric. What is available depends on the material specified for your project, so the answer is given per order rather than as a blanket claim, and we do not state that a certificate applies to a product it was not issued for. If the venue names a specific standard, send it to the supplier at the briefing stage: it can change the material, and a material change after production is a rebuild.

Arabic or English is normally acceptable for approval files. Drawings and labels can be prepared in either, and it costs nothing to ask the venue which they file in.

The order that works: confirm the venue and the organiser's document list, brief the supplier with those requirements, approve the production drawing with the footprint and fixing shown, then submit. Production starts from the approved drawing, and bulk production typically takes 3–8 days for simple items, 7–15 days for standard custom work and 15–25 days for complex or large pieces, counted from final design approval

If the event is tied to a fixed date, keep the approval deadline visible to everyone. Working back from National Day on 2 December, that means approving artwork by early September for a complex piece shipped by sea, or by mid-October for air freight.
