Planning Outdoor Inflatables Around the Gulf Summer and the Event Calendar
Summer, from June to September, regularly passes 40°C, and outdoor campaigns are usually planned for the cooler months or for shaded and indoor positions. The campaign calendar follows that: the campaign calendar follows the cooler months: the Dubai Shopping Festival runs from mid-December into January, and the Dubai World Trade Centre calendar is dense — Gulfood every February, GITEX Global and Big 5 Global in the final quarter. National Day is on 2 December, with 2 and 3 December observed as a public holiday. Plan an outdoor piece for the cooler months where you can, and where a summer installation is unavoidable, move it to a shaded or indoor position and agree the operating hours with the venue. Working back from National Day on 2 December, that means approving artwork by early September for a complex piece shipped by sea, or by mid-October for air freight.

What the summer does to an outdoor piece
Summer, from June to September, regularly passes 40°C, and outdoor campaigns are usually planned for the cooler months or for shaded and indoor positions.
Heat is not only a comfort question. Continuous sun exposure is what ages a printed surface fastest, and a piece that stands outdoors through a Gulf summer has a shorter usable life than the same piece used for a week in December. If the campaign repeats, that difference is worth costing in at the start.
For any outdoor position we review the material, the seams, where the blower sits and how it gets a covered power connection for the actual site, then agree a weather shutdown plan with the organiser. That plan is as much about heat and dust as about wind.
The calendar that decides the deadlines
The campaign calendar follows the cooler months: the Dubai Shopping Festival runs from mid-December into January, and the Dubai World Trade Centre calendar is dense — Gulfood every February, GITEX Global and Big 5 Global in the final quarter. National Day is on 2 December, with 2 and 3 December observed as a public holiday.
Those shows are the reason so many inflatable projects in this market are stand pieces rather than street pieces: an exhibition hall is climate controlled, the audience is captive, and the exhibitor manual sets the rules. The manual also sets the real deadline, which is usually weeks before move-in, not the show date.
Retail campaigns follow a different rhythm, building through the Dubai Shopping Festival window from mid-December into January, and around National Day on 2 December.
Working the deadline backwards
Bulk production typically takes 3–8 days for simple items, 7–15 days for standard custom work and 15–25 days for complex or large pieces, counted from final design approval. Freight comes on top: express or air usually 4–15 working days, and sea, rail or truck usually 20–45 days, after dispatch and subject to route and customs
Working back from National Day on 2 December, that means approving artwork by early September for a complex piece shipped by sea, or by mid-October for air freight. For a stand piece, subtract the exhibitor manual's documentation deadline as well, because that is when the venue wants the drawing, not when you want to install.
If the installation has to happen in summer
Move it under cover. A shaded atrium, a mall interior or a covered forecourt keeps the surface temperature down and the piece visible for longer. Where that is impossible, shorten the daily operating hours and agree with the venue when the piece is deflated and stored.
Ask about the blower position specifically: an air system in direct sun works harder, and its cable run is usually the thing the venue cares about most. The 1600 W electric pump suits large-format structures, arches and continuously inflated outdoor displays, but where it stands is a site decision.
What to send for a quote
The product type and target size, the venue and whether the position is indoor, shaded or fully exposed, the campaign dates, the destination city, print-ready artwork and the quantity. If the piece is for a show, send the exhibitor manual's technical section too: it usually answers half the specification questions before they are asked.
Verified Specifications

Material specifications
| Specification | Typical use | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Double-layer PVC | General construction for custom advertising inflatables | The default build for most promotional structures. |
| 0.4 mm PVC | Large-format projects | Used on delivered large-format orders. |
| 0.5 / 0.6 / 0.7 mm PVC mesh | Engineered structures | Specified where the structure carries load, spans further, or faces sustained wind exposure. |
Air system specifications
| Pump | Airflow | Pressure | Suits |
|---|---|---|---|
| 650 W electric pump | 1,600–2,000 L/min | 2.0 psi | Smaller spheres, compact displays and short-duration indoor installations |
| 1600 W electric pump | 4,800–5,200 L/min | 4.5 psi | Large-format structures, arches and continuously inflated outdoor displays |
Both pumps cover 110–240 V at 50–60 Hz, so the same air system suits 110 V and 220–240 V markets. Confirm the plug type for the destination country.
Lead time
- Typical: Bulk production typically takes 3–8 days for simple items, 7–15 days for standard custom work and 15–25 days for complex or large pieces, counted from final design approval
- Can be shorter: Repeat orders on an approved design can run shorter
- Freight and import time come on top. Lead time is confirmed per project once artwork, size, quantity and destination are fixed; treat any figure quoted before that as indicative.
