The Canadian Event Calendar and What It Means for Your Order Date

The outdoor season is concentrated in the warmer months, so spring and summer events are ordered over the winter. Canada Day falls on 1 July, and the Calgary Stampede runs every July.

That last point is the whole planning problem. The window for outdoor work is narrow, so the ordering happens in the months when nobody is thinking about outdoor events — and the buyers who get the dates they want are the ones who brief in the winter.

Canada Day on 1 July is the most predictable anchor in the year, which makes it the easiest to plan a year ahead and the hardest to rescue late. The Calgary Stampede in July sits in the same window and competes for the same production and freight capacity.

A campaign built around either is planned from the approval date backwards, not from the event forwards.

Bulk production typically takes 3–8 days for simple items, 7–15 days for standard custom work and 15–25 days for complex or large pieces, counted from final design approval. Freight comes on top: express or air usually 4–15 working days, and sea, rail or truck usually 20–45 days, after dispatch and subject to route and customs. Customs accounting is its own step.

Working back from Canada Day on 1 July, that means approving artwork by early April for a complex piece shipped by sea, or by mid-May for air freight.

Winter and shoulder-season sites can have frozen or saturated ground, which changes how a piece is fixed down. An installation in May on saturated ground and the same piece in July on dry turf are different fixing problems, and the hardware travels with the order.

Say what the ground will be on the day, and whether the site is exposed. Those two answers decide what ships in the box.

The product type, the target size or the constraint that fixes it, the quantity, print-ready artwork with colour references, the destination city and province, indoor or temporary outdoor use, and the on-site date. MOQ is 1 piece for most custom projects, so a first piece can be reviewed before a repeat order.

Raise the blower's certification route in the same brief. It is the item most likely to need an answer from the Canadian side before the order can be finalised.
