The Australian Event Calendar and What It Means for Your Order Date
The seasons are reversed: the outdoor peak is the southern summer from December to February, Australia Day falls on 26 January, and Melbourne Cup Day is the first Tuesday in November and a public holiday across Victoria. Bulk production typically takes 3–8 days for simple items, 7–15 days for standard custom work and 15–25 days for complex or large pieces, counted from final design approval, with freight and customs on top. Working back from Australia Day on 26 January, that means approving artwork by early November for a complex piece shipped by sea, or by early December for air freight.

Reversed seasons, and what that costs
The seasons are reversed: the outdoor peak is the southern summer from December to February, Australia Day falls on 26 January, and Melbourne Cup Day is the first Tuesday in November and a public holiday across Victoria.
This is the scheduling fact that catches out buyers working across markets. The Australian outdoor peak sits in the months when northern-hemisphere retail is at its busiest, so an Australian summer campaign is ordered into a factory and a freight network already under year-end load.
The practical consequence is simple: order earlier than the date suggests, because the queue in front of you is someone else's Christmas.
The fixed dates
Australia Day on 26 January is the most predictable anchor in the year. Melbourne Cup Day, the first Tuesday in November and a public holiday across Victoria, sits at the front of the season rather than inside it.
Campaigns built around either are planned a long way ahead, and the approval date is what makes them possible.
Working the dates backwards
Bulk production typically takes 3–8 days for simple items, 7–15 days for standard custom work and 15–25 days for complex or large pieces, counted from final design approval. Freight comes on top: express or air usually 4–15 working days, and sea, rail or truck usually 20–45 days, after dispatch and subject to route and customs Clearance is a separate step.
Working back from Australia Day on 26 January, that means approving artwork by early November for a complex piece shipped by sea, or by early December for air freight. That is before the northern year-end peak, not after it.
Sun, UV and how long it stands
Coastal and exposed sites can behave very differently from a city square, and summer sun and UV exposure are severe. A one-day activation and a season-long installation are different specifications, and 0.5 / 0.6 / 0.7 mm PVC mesh is used where a structure faces sustained exposure.
Say how long the piece will stand, whether it is shaded, and whether the site is coastal or exposed. Those answers change the material and the fixing hardware.
What to send so the date is real
The product type, the target size or the constraint that fixes it, the quantity, print-ready artwork with colour references, the destination city, indoor or temporary outdoor use, and the on-site date. MOQ is 1 piece for most custom projects, so a first piece can be reviewed before a repeat order.
Raise the blower's compliance route in the same brief. It is the item most likely to need an answer from the Australian side before the order can be finalised.

Lead time
- Typical: Bulk production typically takes 3–8 days for simple items, 7–15 days for standard custom work and 15–25 days for complex or large pieces, counted from final design approval
- Can be shorter: Repeat orders on an approved design can run shorter
- Freight and import time come on top. Lead time is confirmed per project once artwork, size, quantity and destination are fixed; treat any figure quoted before that as indicative.
