Sealed-Air vs Continuous-Blower Inflatable Replicas
A sealed-air replica is inflated once and closed, so it needs no power and no cable while it is on display, which suits short indoor installations, suspended units and places where no outlet is available. A continuous-blower replica has a pump running the whole time it is inflated, which holds its shape reliably over long installations and in outdoor conditions but requires a power source within cable reach and someone responsible for it. Choose by installation duration, whether power is available at the position, and whether the display is indoors or outdoors, rather than by unit price.

What separates the two builds?
A sealed-air replica is filled, closed at a valve, and holds its own pressure. Nothing runs while it is on display. A continuous-blower replica is connected to an electric pump that runs for as long as the unit is inflated, maintaining pressure against the slow losses every fabric structure has.
The choice is structural rather than cosmetic. The valve or blower connection is built into the envelope, so it is decided before the pattern is cut, not selected afterwards like an accessory.
When sealed air is the right choice
Sealed air suits short installations: a launch event, a weekend activation, a trade show stand where the unit is inflated in the morning and deflated at the end. It also suits any position with no practical power access, and suspended or ceiling-mounted replicas, where running a cable to the unit is awkward or unsafe.
The trade-off is that a sealed unit softens gradually. Over a long installation it will need topping up, and how often depends on size, temperature swings and how much the structure is handled. For a two-day event that is rarely an issue; for a three-week retail installation it becomes a daily task someone has to own.
When a continuous blower is the right choice
A continuous blower suits anything staying up for an extended period, anything outdoors, and anything large enough that a soft shape would be obvious. The pump maintains pressure against temperature changes and slow losses, so the replica looks the same on day fourteen as on day one without anyone attending to it.
The requirement it brings is real: a power source within cable reach of the unit, a cable route that does not cross a walkway, and power available for the whole display period, including overnight if the unit stays inflated. Venues differ on whether they will supply that, so establish it during the site survey rather than after the artwork is approved.
Which pump class, and what the venue needs to supply
Two pump classes are in regular use and they are not interchangeable. The smaller suits compact displays and shorter indoor runs; the larger is what large-format structures and continuous outdoor operation call for, with substantially more airflow and roughly twice the pressure.
Specifying the larger class where the smaller would do adds cost and draws more power for no benefit. Specifying the smaller where the structure needs the larger is the worse error, because the display underperforms every day it is up. Give the supplier the installation duration, the environment and the available power, and let the specification follow.
Both classes accept 110-240 V at 50-60 Hz, so a replica specified for a US venue and one for a 220-240 V market can share the same air system. What changes by country is the plug type, and what changes by venue is the distance from the outlet to the unit.
How to specify the air system in an RFQ
State the installation duration, indoor or outdoor, whether power is available at the exact position, and whether the unit will be suspended. Those four answers determine the build, and a supplier who has them will propose the right system without a round of questions.
Ask for the air system to appear on the quotation as a line rather than being folded into a total, so that two quotes can be compared. If a quotation does not mention the pump at all, ask whether it is included before comparing the number with one that clearly includes it.
